    on the verge


    The ephemeral woodland wildflowers are on the verge of blooming big this week. Spring beauties, bloodroot, and woodland anemone to name a few. Still to come are Virginia bluebells, trout lily and wild columbine. Below is Snow trillium (Trillium nivale). It's a smallish plant (~6 inches) found in moist undisturbed wooded slopes. These were growing on the mossy ledge of a bluff face at Dolliver State Park.
